bookkeeping is my craft

Over the years I worked for corporates, charities and small businesses including B Corps, with roles ranging from internal audit, bookkeeping and finance manager for SMEs.

I started my career as a trainee for a firm of Chartered Accountants in a market town, many of the clients were farmers. Every year a partner would go to the farm and bring back a box of bags of receipts and bank statements – these were called ‘Incomplete Records’ as there were always bits missing – from which we had to build a picture of the year’s accounts. It required being very organised, attention to detail and many calculations. This was an excellent training ground in how double-entry bookkeeping works and to structure accounts. I think of that time as where I learned my craft.

My most rewarding working relationships have been with creatives as I am able to provide a link between the operations and the finances. I will explain the financial information in any way you need to make it understandable and therefore useful.
